Reverend Dr. Jennifer Jones Powell

Pastor

The Reverend Dr. Jennifer Jones Powell serves as our Minister.  She received her B.A. from Bluefield College, and her M.Ed. and Ed.D. from the University of Virginia.  An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), this is Jennifer’s first call as a solo pastor.  For the last 20+ years, she served in the field of education as a Professor of Literacy Education and an elementary classroom teacher.  Jennifer loves the Lord and loves serving the Lord alongside others in creative, energetic, life-giving, faithful ways.  In their downtime, Jennifer and her husband Bob enjoy reading, taking walks around Mount Sterling, international travel, and loving their two rescue dogs, Ocami and Molly Mae.

Laura Lee Brother

Administrative Assistant

In a previous life, Laura Lee was a Microsoft Office trainer.  When she and her husband, Matt, settled down in Mt. Sterling to raise their two sons, she began farming with her Dad.  Now she splits her time between taking care of cows in the morning and parishioners in the afternoon.

Kimbrley Barnes

Pianist

Kimbrley Barnes started playing piano when she was six. Her parents and teachers encouraged her love for music. She has learned to play other instruments including the organ, harp, and some percussion when the high school band director pulled her into the band. She is a graduate of Morehead State University where she majored in English and French. She retired from teaching after over 27 years with Montgomery County Schools. During her time with the school system, she was the proud director of a Dr Robert Haynes Spring Musical. Prior to her teaching career, Kim was a Certified Dental Assistant for ten years. After retiring, she started volunteering at the Post Clinic with the dental team. When she isn’t at the clinic or practicing an instrument, she can be found stirring up a dessert in her kitchen or curled up with a book on her back porch. She is married to the adorable and adventurous Steve and they share their home with their two dogs, Mollie and Maggie.

Anne Wills

Choir Director

Anne is thrilled to be returning to the position of Organist at FPC, and says that leading the choir is a personal challenge that she is eager to undertake and explore. She has been involved with church music her entire life, as an instrumentalist and an alto in the choir. She is a native Montgomery Countian, who married her high school sweetheart, David Wills, and together they reared their six beloved children in the area. She is proud to be called “Grandma” by ten, always fascinating grandchildren! Anne also holds Bachelor and Master Degrees in Clinical Psychology, and a Minor in Music. She was employed in both the community and private sectors of mental health as a Psychotherapist for ten years, and worked for 20 years in Long Term Care, 12 of which as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Anne is an avid reader, creative quilter, and is licensed as a private pilot. She loves to travel, sew, garden, cook, design and decorate, paint, work crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and entertain her family and friends. She currently serves as the volunteer librarian for the Hearing & Speech
Center in Lexington, and the John Fox Genealogical Library in Paris, Ky. She is a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and the local quilting group, Scrapbaggers. Anne challenges herself daily to walk through life with immense joy and endless gratitude.
